Phoenix Children’s is recently acknowledged with three top-employer awards, proving dedication to employee satisfaction. For the fifth year in a row, the Hospital is recognized by Becker’s Healthcare as one of “150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare,” and is the only Arizona hospital on the list. The organization is also the only hospital awarded in the large business category of the Phoenix Business Journal’s Valley’s Healthiest Employers 2018 Awards, and it received a platinum ranking for Maricopa County’s Healthy Arizona Worksites Program.
“We wear these badges with a lot of pride,” said Page Bachman, Vice President of Human Resources at Phoenix Children’s. “Everyone here is focused on enhancing staff work experience – both at the main campus and our facilities around the state. On top of employee-satisfaction programs, we offer channels for regular feedback including monthly breakfasts with our CEO and an annual employee survey. We also encourage honest and effective communication among employees and their direct supervisors. Leadership communication skills are something we continually invest in, and we recognize the positive impact.”
The Hospital’s well-being program, “Vitality,” offers Phoenix Children’s employees Apple Watches and an on-site farmers market, and rewards staff with gift cards for keeping regular fitness activities like checking into their gyms and staying on track with fitness goals.
Additional employee benefits include an on-site pharmacy and flexible spending accounts, as well as company-funded life insurance and disability. The Hospital is also a strong advocate for leadership promotions that come from within, and helping employees strike healthy work-life balance. As testament to its efforts, Phoenix Children’s recently administered a survey that placed the hospital in the 90th percentile for employee satisfaction. Even still, leaders at the Hospital are always seeking out areas for improvement.
