Caring for a hospitalized loved one is challenging when you’re pulled in so many directions. It’s important to tend to your own needs, too, so you can be there for those you love.

At Phoenix Children’s, you’ll find people, places and even a few furry friends who are good for the heart and soul. Learn about opportunities that can reduce stress and brighten your day.

Work with a Therapy Animal

Studies show that animal-assisted therapy can help kids of all ages. Our highly trained, furry visitors help lower stress, lift spirits and give children and families a little relief from their troubles.

Take a Wellness Break

As a caregiver, it’s important to take time for your own wellness. Our Wellness Resource Guide recommends several health and wellness resources, including Mindful Minutes – ways to relax, even in the smallest windows of time.

Talk to a Chaplain

Chaplains on our Spiritual Care team can provide the emotional and spiritual support you or your child needs – whether you have a specific faith or no faith. We draw on your beliefs to help you cope with the challenges of managing a long-term illness or being in the hospital.

Spend Time in the Mindfulness Room

The Emily Center at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Thomas Campus has a Mindfulness Room, where you can relax. Reserve a massage chair for a quiet, peaceful break.

Get Connected to Services and Support

Our social work professionals offer caring, practical assistance and guidance for patients and families. They can connect you to services and support – whether you need help with stress relief, communication with medical teams or a list of available resources.
