Arizona Unites for 13th Annual Drowning Impact Awareness Month

Before they can even start kindergarten, too many of our children are drowning - among Arizona children one to four years old, drowning deaths are happening at double the national rate. And, these deaths are most likely to happen between now and Labor Day weekend. That’s why Phoenix Children’s Hospital brings the state together for Drowning Impact Awareness Month, Arizona’s largest drowning prevention effort, which kicks off on Friday, July 29th at 9:30 am in the Melvin L. Cohen Conference Center, at 1919 E. Thomas, Phoenix, AZ.

Phoenix Children’s Names Clinical Leadership Team for Emergency Department at Avondale Campus

As Phoenix Children’s prepares to open an emergency department in July 2023 in Avondale, Ariz., the pediatric healthcare system today announced the site’s clinical leadership team. Christina Conrad, DO, a pediatric emergency medicine specialist, will serve as medical director and Theresa Asta, RN, MSN, CPEN, CPN, will serve as clinical manager.

Phoenix Children’s was the Second Busiest Pediatric Heart Transplant Center in the Country in 2016

In 2016, Phoenix Children’s pediatric heart transplant center was the second busiest in the U.S., performing 24 heart transplants as reported by the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR). This brings the program’s total to 67 transplants since its inception in 2011. The program has seen rapid growth with excellent outcomes.

AHCCCS CRS Patients May Soon Choose to Receive In-Network Care at Phoenix Children’s
September 21, 2018
Beginning on October 1, 2018, most AHCCCS Children’s Rehabilitative Services (CRS) members will be enrolled in one of the seven AHCCCS Complete Care (ACC) plans. ACC plan members may choose to receive care from any community provider contracted as an in-network provider with their ACC plan. Phoenix Children’s is contracted as an in-network provider with five of the seven ACC plans, including Care 1st, Steward Health Choice Arizona, Banner University Family Care, Mercy Care and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. Phoenix Children’s continues to work with the other ACC plans to have its care and facilities in-network with these plans.
