Phoenix Children’s, one of the fastest-growing pediatric healthcare systems in the country, today announced the appointment of internationally renowned surgeon-scientist Matthew Halanski, MD, as Division Chief of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.

Joining the newly created Division of Anesthesiology are 39 experienced providers who recently transitioned from a longstanding private practice into Phoenix Children’s Medical Group. Many of these skilled providers have subspecialties within anesthesia, including pediatric pain management, cardiology, transplantation and more. This team is already an integral part of daily care delivery, having practiced extensively within Phoenix Children’s health system.

In an ongoing effort to expand and elevate health care for children and families, Phoenix Children’s tapped two senior nursing leaders to serve in executive positions for the growing pediatric health system. Rhonda Thompson, DNP, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, is chief nursing officer (CNO) and senior vice president of patient care services, and Katie Penson, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, now serves as vice president of critical care services at Phoenix Children’s.
