Cynthia Wetmore, MD, PhD, has joined the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children’s as division chief. Dr. Wetmore earned her Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude in history of science from Harvard University, Medical Degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School, and Doctorate in neurobiology from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. She completed her residency training in pediatrics at the University of Minnesota and Mayo Clinic and completed fellowship training in hematology/oncology and neuro-oncology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The health system remains Arizona’s only children’s hospital to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report and is one of only 24 children’s hospitals in the United States to make the list in all 10 surveyed specialties for 2019-20.

Phoenix Children’s Achieves Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs Accreditation Signifying Highest Ethical Standards in Research
Phoenix Children’s, one of the nation’s largest pediatric health systems, has been recognized by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) for its ethical research and comprehensive protections for research participants. The health system is one of just four Arizona healthcare organizations and one of just 15 children’s hospitals nationwide to currently hold this accreditation.
