For the sixth time in a row, Phoenix Children’s has earned the top rating of three stars by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS). The newest rating is based on congenital cardiothoracic surgery outcomes data for the period from July 2014 to June 2018. The Cardiothoracic Surgery team at Phoenix Children's is one of just 10 programs in North America to earn this rating out of 118 participating programs.

Neonatology at Phoenix Children’s, ranked among the nation’s top programs by U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Children’s Hospitals,” announced today that Gregory Martin, MD, FAAP, will serve as Division Chief of Neonatology for Phoenix Children’s Hospital East Valley.

The award recognizes a new quality improvement solution Phoenix Children’s implemented with VigiLanz technology. Phoenix Children’s Infection Control team is now able to monitor patients’ blood draw contamination information in real-time.

When it opens in 2024, it will continue to be Arizona’s only American Academy of Pediatrics-designated Level IV NICU, a designation indicating the highest level of medical care available for the most complex neonatal conditions, the sickest and the most premature newborns.

On the heels of its top “three-star” rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, a repeat “Best Children’s Hospital” designation, and its ranking among the nation’s top Pediatric Heart Centers from U.S. News & World Report, Phoenix Children’s will open a newly expanded Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) in July 2019. With 48 total inpatient beds, the new CVICU doubles the capacity of the previous 24-bed unit. New CVICU rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology like surgical lighting, lifts for mobilizing adult patients and improved monitoring capabilities.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital was announced the winner of the Best Use Of Innovative Mobile Technology category in the 2018 Mobie Awards, an inaugural awards event presented by Enterprise Mobility Exchange. The Hospital is recognized for deploying customizable iPad devices in patient rooms.
