Highlighting efforts in patient safety and quality, Phoenix Children’s Hospital received a Five Star Patient Care “Vigi Award” from VigiLanz, a provider of SaaS clinical surveillance solutions. The award recognizes a new quality improvement solution Phoenix Children’s implemented with VigiLanz technology. Phoenix Children’s Infection Control team is now able to monitor patients’ blood draw contamination information in real-time.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital was announced the winner of the Best Use Of Innovative Mobile Technology category in the 2018 Mobie Awards, an inaugural awards event presented by Enterprise Mobility Exchange. The Hospital is recognized for deploying customizable iPad devices in patient rooms.

Joining the newly created Division of Anesthesiology are 39 experienced providers who recently transitioned from a longstanding private practice into Phoenix Children’s Medical Group. Angel Torres was running out of options. After multiple rounds of chemotherapy and a fruitless search for a bone marrow donor, the 3-year-old’s odds against acute lymphoblastic leukemia were grim. That changed in June, when Phoenix Children’s providers recommended CAR-T cellular therapy, a breakthrough new treatment that uses a patient’s own T-cells to attack and destroy cancer cells. Only available at a handful of children’s cancer centers nationwide, CAR-T worked for Angel, destroying the leukemia cells and giving him a second chance at life.

Announced today, the Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive. The Top Hospital designation is awarded by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization.

Phoenix Children’s is recently acknowledged with three top-employer awards, proving dedication to employee satisfaction. For the fifth year in a row, the Hospital is recognized by Becker’s Healthcare as one of “150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare,” and is the only Arizona hospital on the list. The organization is also the only hospital awarded in the large business category of the Phoenix Business Journal’s Valley’s Healthiest Employers 2018 Awards, and it received a platinum ranking for Maricopa County’s Healthy Arizona Worksites Program.

In an effort to improve water safety messaging and reduce child drownings in Arizona, SRP is supporting Phoenix Children’s by partnering to support the health system’s drowning prevention curriculum to pediatricians’ practices statewide.
