In 2016, Phoenix Children’s pediatric heart transplant center was the second busiest in the U.S., performing 24 heart transplants as reported by the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR). This brings the program’s total to 67 transplants since its inception in 2011. The program has seen rapid growth with excellent outcomes.

The collaboration brings together providers from two of Arizona’s original pediatric institutions. Mesa Pediatrics was the first pediatric practice established in the East Valley with a board certified pediatrician, and Phoenix Children’s is the first and only standalone children’s hospital in Arizona.
