The health system is the only children’s hospital in Arizona ever to have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report and one of only 24 children’s hospitals in the United States to rank in all 10 surveyed specialties for 2020-2021.

Phoenix Children’s, one of the nation’s largest pediatric health systems, has been recognized by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) for its ethical research and comprehensive protections for research participants. The health system is one of just four Arizona healthcare organizations and one of just 15 children’s hospitals nationwide to currently hold this accreditation.

A physician with Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s Hospital has helped create new recommendations from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), defining how much sleep children need. Matthew Troester, DO, pediatric neurologist, is one of 13 sleep medicine experts from around the world who developed the recommendations. This is the first time AASM has made sleep recommendations for children, and it will change the way doctors advise parents on how much sleep children should get every day.

The highly advanced surgical tool is intended for use with the Medtronic StealthStation™ system, and Phoenix Children’s Hospital will use it in surgery for pediatric patients suffering from a range of neurological conditions.
