Research conducted at the Phoenix Children’s Research Institute at the University of Arizona College of Medicine — Phoenix shows normalizing cancer tumor vessels and alleviating low oxygen levels in the tumor microenvironment can improve the effectiveness of chemotherapy treatment in lung cancer, according to a paper published in EMBO Molecular Medicine.

Phoenix Children’s new 17,000-square-foot Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) will open to patients on October 18, increasing the Hospital’s capacity to care for children and adults fighting pediatric cancer and complex blood disorders.

The Cardiothoracic Surgery team at Phoenix Children's is one of just 12 programs in North America to earn this rating out of 119 participating programs.
