Phoenix Children’s hosted its first Heart & Hand Clinical Excellence Awards on Thursday, October 21 at the Phoenix Country Club. The Heart and Hand Clinical Excellence Awards honor Phoenix Children’s physicians and advanced practice providers who have made exceptional contributions to pediatric medicine. Keynote speaker, former NHL player and current chief hockey development officer for the Arizona Coyotes, Shane Doan, addressed attendees during this event that focused on celebrating excellence in the areas of clinical care, research and medical education. The event host and emcee was Phoenix Children’s Physician-in-Chief Dr. Jared Muenzer, with additional speakers President & CEO Robert L. Meyer and Surgeon-in-Chief Dr. Daniel Ostlie.

Embarking on a second decade of serving patients and families in their most vulnerable moments, Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s Palliative Care department will continue providing their world-class, family-centric care offering, expanding its reach with strategic partner, Hospice of the Valley.

For the fifth time, Phoenix Children’s Hospital has earned national rankings from U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Children’s Hospitals” in 10 out of 10 ranked specialties. The health system is the only children’s hospital in Arizona ever to have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report and one of only 22 children’s hospitals that received 10 out of 10 shields in the United States to rank in every surveyed specialty for 2021-2022.

In a move that will dramatically expand access to nationally ranked pediatric health care in the West Valley, Phoenix Children’s today announced plans to build a new freestanding, three-story hospital in Glendale, Ariz. Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Arrowhead Campus will offer inpatient care, an emergency department, an outpatient surgery center and a multi-specialty clinic.

Phoenix Children’s will soon begin work on an emergency department and multi-specialty clinic in Avondale, Ariz., which will provide West Valley families access to top-ranked, pediatric-specific emergency care and expanded specialty services, now closer to home.
