Before they can even start kindergarten, too many of our children are drowning - among Arizona children one to four years old, drowning deaths are happening at double the national rate. And, these deaths are most likely to happen between now and Labor Day weekend. That’s why Phoenix Children’s Hospital brings the state together for Drowning Impact Awareness Month, Arizona’s largest drowning prevention effort, which kicks off on Friday, July 29th at 9:30 am in the Melvin L. Arizona Sports and KTAR Give-A-Thon Raises Record-Breaking $1.58 Million

The 16th annual Give-A-Thon for Phoenix Children’s Hospital became the top fundraiser of its kind in the country by collecting more than $1.58 million in donations during a 19-hour radio simulcast on KTAR News (92.3 FM) and Arizona Sports (98.7 FM). This marks the seventh year in a row that Bonneville Media’s two stations have exceeded $1 million in donations.

As Phoenix Children’s Division of Nephrology continues to grow to address the needs of children in Arizona and beyond, the health system has named renowned pediatric nephrologist and researcher Katherine Perry, MD, MS, the chief of the division. Dr. Perry comes to Phoenix Children’s from UCLA Health, where she worked as a board-certified pediatric nephrologist since 2006.
