Vladimir Kalinichenko, MD, PhD, will be Director for the Phoenix Children’s Research Institute at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, and professor of Child Health with tenure. Dr. Kalinichenko is internationally renowned for his research in lung development and regeneration.

A series of expansion projects at Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Thomas Campus totals 212,000 square feet and will increase the amount of clinical space, inpatient beds and clinical exam rooms. Phoenix Children’s and Cigna announced the two organizations reached a tentative agreement yesterday as contract discussions continue. While the contract is being finalized, Phoenix Children’s remains an in-network provider for families with Cigna employer-sponsored health coverage.

Joining the newly created Division of Anesthesiology are 39 experienced providers who recently transitioned from a longstanding private practice into Phoenix Children’s Medical Group. Many of these skilled providers have subspecialties within anesthesia, including pediatric pain management, cardiology, transplantation and more. This team is already an integral part of daily care delivery, having practiced extensively within Phoenix Children’s health system.

Children who need care for cleft lip and palate, craniosynostosis, plagiocephaly and other craniofacial conditions will benefit from having seamless, coordinated care through Phoenix Children’s Medical Group.

The 39 experienced pediatric anesthesiologists have practiced extensively at Phoenix Children’s and will now be directly employed by Phoenix Children’s Medical Group.
