One of the country’s foremost pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons has joined the top-ranked pediatric heart program at Phoenix Children’s. Roosevelt Bryant III, MD, now serves as surgical director of the Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Assist Device Program at Phoenix Children’s Heart Center, ranked 14 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals and one of just 10 congenital cardiothoracic surgery programs in North America to earn the Society of Thoracic Surgeons’ highest-achievable three-star rating.

Three Phoenix Children’s leaders named Health Care Heroes finalists by the Phoenix Business Journal
Phoenix Children’s Hospital is proud to announce that three of the hospital’s leaders were selected as Health Care Heroes Awards finalists during Phoenix Business Journal’s award breakfast on August 22. Carmen Neuberger, Phoenix Children’s general counsel and executive vice president, was selected as a finalist and the winner for the Non-physician category. Angus Wilfong, MD, Division Chief of Pediatric Neurology, was selected as a finalist for the Innovator category, and Daniel Velez, MD, Division Chief of the Heart Center at Phoenix Children’s, was selected as a finalist in the Physician category.

Highlighting efforts in patient safety and quality, Phoenix Children’s Hospital received a Five Star Patient Care “Vigi Award” from VigiLanz, a provider of SaaS clinical surveillance solutions. The award recognizes a new quality improvement solution Phoenix Children’s implemented with VigiLanz technology. Phoenix Children’s Infection Control team is now able to monitor patients’ blood draw contamination information in real-time.
