Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) at Phoenix Children’s, one of the largest pediatric neuroscience programs in the country, today announced the appointment of Neil Friedman, MBChB as director. Dr. Friedman is a leading pediatric neurologist and has served as interim director since 2022, overseeing the institute’s comprehensive inpatient and outpatient neuroscienceslogical care and services to infants, children and teens with neurological-related issues.

Vladimir Kalinichenko, MD, PhD, will be Director for the Phoenix Children’s Research Institute at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, and professor of Child Health with tenure. Dr. Kalinichenko is internationally renowned for his research in lung development and regeneration.

A series of expansion projects at Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Thomas Campus totals 212,000 square feet and will increase the amount of clinical space, inpatient beds and clinical exam rooms.
