Social media is for everyone. It enables us to interact with our patients, families, donors and anyone else who is passionate about Phoenix Children’s, the work we do and our immediate community. We encourage you to be active participants in our online communities.

These are the official guidelines for engagement on Phoenix Children’s social media platforms, whether you’re a patient or family member, volunteer, community member, or a member of our staff.

At Phoenix Children’s, we invite you to join us on our social media sites and welcome your comments and stories. Please be aware that once you post something online, it can and will be read by others and can be made available in cyberspace for years to come. As a result, we suggest that you exercise caution when posting medical information on any of our social media sites and that you not disclose personal identifiable information like your location, medical record number, financial information, etc.

Phoenix Children’s reserves the ultimate right to hide, edit or delete any comments deemed inappropriate for this site and its readers.

By posting any comments, posts or other material on Phoenix Children’s-sponsored sites or blogs, you give Phoenix Children’s the irrevocable right to reproduce, distribute, publish, display, edit, modify, create derivative works from, and otherwise use your submission for any purpose in any form and on any media. You also agree that you will not:

  1. Post material that infringes on the rights of any third party, including intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights
  2. Post material that is unlawful, profane, obscene, defamatory, threatening, harassing, abusive, slanderous, hateful, embarrassing or doxing to any other person or entity as determined by Phoenix Children’s in its sole discretion
  3. Post off-topic and redundant comments (this includes promotion of events, groups, pages, websites, organizations, and programs not related to or affiliated with Phoenix Children’s)
  4. Impersonate another person
  5. Allow any other person or entity to use your identification for posting or viewing comments
  6. Post the same note more than once or “spam”
  7. Post comments that violate the privacy of our patients and their families or of our staff.

We wish to use social media as a way to connect with anyone who wants to have a relationship with us and to encourage open dialogue, even when it is critical of Phoenix Children’s. The nature of social media gives our community a voice and allows us to quickly respond to issues that may come to light online. If you become aware of any posts that are negative about Phoenix Children’s or its services, contact the Communications department at Communications [at] PhoenixChildrens.com (Communications[at]PhoenixChildrens[dot]com) so we can facilitate a timely and appropriate response.

Phoenix Children’s reserves the right to moderate and/or remove any content that does not adhere to its guidelines or policies. Sites will be monitored, and content will be rejected or filtered if it is ugly, offensive, denigrating or completely out of context. Phoenix Children’s also reserves the right to block or ban any social media account that repeatedly violates our social media guidelines, and/or to turn off comments on social platforms.

Information posted to any Phoenix Children’s social media site by participants or any third party (e.g. commenter) should not be considered medical advice, nor is it intended to replace consultation with a qualified physician or other health care provider. Participants will not evaluate, endorse or recommend any particular health care providers, medications or treatments.
