Injury Prevention Program

Very few activities are more refreshing than swimming on a hot summer day; but water presents risks too. Learning the facts about water safety for children will allow you to make a big difference.

Drownings are the leading cause of injury-related death in children ages one to four years old in the United States. In Arizona, children in this age group are drowning at double the national average, and most often in swimming pools.

Playing It Safe workshops

Thanks to our partnership with SRP, caregivers can attend a “Playing it Safe” class. At this class you will learn that children who take swim lessons are still at-risk for drowning, life jackets can reduce this risk, and that safe swim time always includes constant capable supervision.

All caregivers that attend will receive a free life jacket for their children ages 1-5 years.

Water Safety Kits

With the support of Valley Toyota Dealers, free water safety kits are available to help caregivers reduce drowning risk. The kits include tips on improving supervision at the pool. The kits also include a bag, a towel, a “Boss of the Pool” tag and infographics. Email the water safety team to request a kit.
