Motion Analysis Lab
Our motion analysis uses engineering, entertainment technology and medical expertise to study a child’s movement patterns and muscle activity. Our goal is to reach the best possible outcome for each child and their family.
The Motion Analysis Laboratory can be used to evaluate kids with gait abnormalities and conditions such as:
- Cerebral palsy and other movement disorders
- Spina bifida
- Clubfoot
- Scoliosis
- ACL return to play
- Other neuromuscular disorders
What to Expect at Your Visit
Visits to the Bubba Watson and PING Golf Motion Analysis Laboratory typically last two to three hours and will be for one of the following studies:
- A gait study includes a series of exams, tasks, and walking activities that may tire your child. The testing is designed to help identify the cause of your child’s movement problems. Your child will be walking barefoot, but if your child uses orthotics, braces with shoes, and/or assistive device for walking, please bring to the appointment. Please bring or wear shorts with a flexible waist band, tank top, sports bra, hair tie, water.
- A sport study is for patients who are striving to return to their sport after an ACL or MPFL injury and surgical repair. The testing involves functional activities to challenge the athlete and evaluate their readiness to return to sports. Please bring or wear shorts with a flexible waist band, tank top, sports bra, hair tie, water, and shoes for running/jumping.
After testing, the data is presented to Orthopedic surgeons to create a customized treatment plan for your child.
