Multimodal Monitoring

Acute brain injuries can occur in a number of situations such as trauma, stroke, infection, cardiac arrest or coma from a wide spectrum of medical conditions. Multimodal monitoring enables us to collect and integrate numerous points of patient data non-invasively to detect impending problems and create patient specific interventions and treatment plans to optimize brain function.

Multimodal monitoring can be used to incorporate data from various sensors and/or monitors:

  • Brain tissue oxygen tension
  • Cerebral blood flow and autoregulation
  • Cerebral regional oximetry with near infrared spectroscopy
  • Computerized quantitative and qualitative pupil assessment (pupillometry)
  • Continuous electroencephalography (EEG)
  • Intracranial pressure (ICP)

We use this data to assess the effectiveness of our treatment strategies in real time.
