Darcey Winterland, MD named Division Chief

PHOENIX [March 24, 2026] Phoenix Children’s announced today a strategic alignment of Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics (PCP), the health system’s statewide network of primary care offices, with Phoenix Children’s Medical Group (PCMG), its employed primary and specialty care physicians. PCP is now a division within PCMG, bringing primary care pediatricians and specialists together under a single leadership structure to create a more connected care experience for families.

As part of the new structure, Darcey Winterland, MD has been appointed Division Chief of Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics.

“Aligning Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics within Phoenix Children’s Medical Group allows our primary care and specialty teams to work even closer together, supporting better outcomes and a more integrated experience for the patients we serve,” said Ashish Patel, MD, Physician-in-Chief, Phoenix Children’s. “Dr. Winterland’s appointment as Division Chief reflects her deep institutional knowledge, trusted leadership and ability to guide teams through growth and integration in support of a more coordinated, systemwide approach to care.”

Dr. Winterland, who previously served as co-medical director of Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics, is a highly respected pediatrician and clinical leader with more than 20 years of experience advancing pediatric care and clinical excellence.

A graduate of the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson, Dr. Winterland completed her pediatric residency at Phoenix Children’s and has dedicated her career to the health system and its mission. She has played a key role in shaping pediatric care delivery, strengthening clinical stewardship and advancing quality initiatives.

Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics is comprised of more than 50 pediatricians and advanced practice providers who provide preventive and medical care at 12 clinic locations throughout the state. Phoenix Children’s Medical Group includes more than 900 employed medical staff delivering a wide range of specialty services, including ophthalmology, cardiology, otolaryngology, urology and surgery.

This new structure reflects Phoenix Children’s ongoing commitment to advancing pediatric care through enhanced collaboration and a unified approach to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across the communities it serves.
