About Andrea J. Cuviello, MD

Andrea J. Cuviello, MD, is a pediatric hematologist, oncologist and palliative care specialist. She works as a palliative medicine physician at Phoenix Children's.

Dr. Cuviello joined the palliative care team at Phoenix Children's because of the program's excellent reputation for patient care services, as well as opportunities for clinical and academic research.

After graduating with a bachelor's degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Dr. Cuviello earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Basseterre, St. Kitts. She completed her pediatric residency training at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Cuviello went on to complete a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Johns Hopkins University and the National Institutes of Health in Baltimore, and a fellowship in palliative medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Services and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Cuviello is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics, hospice and palliative medicine, as well as hematology/oncology. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the Children's Oncology Group and the Pediatric Palliative Care Research Network.

Committed to clinical research that advances the fields of pediatric oncology, hematology and palliative care medicine, Dr. Cuviello has published peer-reviewed research in journals including Cancers, Currently Oncology Reports, Frontiers in Oncology, Children and Frontiers in Pain Research. Dr. Cuviello has presented research at notable conferences and meetings including the Johns Hopkins Coopersmith Research Symposium, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine Annual Assembly, the Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine annual conference and the Maruzza International Congress on Paediatric Palliative Care.

Dr. Cuviello has always been fascinated by the science of medicine and enjoys finding unique ways to connect and learn about her patients. She believes that healthcare should be individualized to provide tailored, comprehensive and holistic patient care.

In her free time, Dr. Cuviello can be found outside with her dog or trying new foods and exploring new places.
