About Brandon H. Abbott, DO
Brandon Abbott, DO, MPH, provides care for children admitted to Phoenix Children's. Dr. Abbott has experience providing both internal medicine and pediatric treatment for patients of all ages. He believes that the best patient care comes from understanding the values of his patients and their families.
Dr. Abbott first worked at Phoenix Children's as a pharmacy technician and was encouraged to attend medical school by several members of the pharmacy staff. He is excited to return to Phoenix Children's as a physician. Dr. Abbott hopes his experience treating both children and adults will be an asset as he helps adults who still use the services of Phoenix Children's transition to other providers.
The first in his family to attend college, Dr. Abbott earned his undergraduate degree from Arizona State University in Phoenix and a master's degree in public health from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He graduated with a doctorate in osteopathic medicine from A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Mesa, Arizona. Dr. Abbott completed his internal medicine and pediatric residency training at the State University of New York at Buffalo, in Buffalo, New York, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Abbott is board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and past president of the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association. Dr. Abbott is a regular speaker at Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association conventions.
Committed to medical education and mentoring medical trainees, Dr. Abbott serves as a chairperson for the Arizona Medical Student Loan Program, a full-ride scholarship for medical students who plan to practice in rural or underserved areas of Arizona. A scholarship was created in his name to provide funds to pre-med, medical and post-grad students planning to practice in rural Arizona. Dr. Abbott also has been honored with several teaching awards, including the A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona Attending Physician of the Year in 2023.
When not treating patients, Dr. Abbott spends time with his wife and two daughters. He also enjoys rock climbing, playing ice hockey and learning to play new musical instruments.
