About Chokechai Rongkavilit, MD
Chokechai Rongkavilit, MD, is a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Phoenix Children’s. Dr. Rongkavilit is specially trained in the treatment of pediatric infectious diseases, and he has a clinical interest in the diagnosis and treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), AIDS and coccidioidomycosis (valley fever).
Dr. Rongkavilit earned his medical degree from Siriraj Hospital at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand, before completing a pediatrics internship at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois. He continued his medical training with a pediatric residency at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis and a fellowship in pediatric infectious disease at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida.
Board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Rongkavilit is also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international conferences.
Dedicated to instructing the next generation of doctors, Dr. Rongkavilit has been honored with numerous teaching awards. He is a recent recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of California San Francisco and the Distinguished Teacher Award from the Pediatric Residency Program at Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera, California. Dr. Rongkavilit also received the Faculty of the Year Award from the Internal Medicine-Pediatric Residency Program at Detroit Medical Center and Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit.
When not caring for his patients, Dr. Rongkavilit likes to spend time with his family, travel to his home country, exercise, write and play with his cat.
