Heriberto Martinez, MD

Heriberto Martinez, MD, FAAP, is a pediatric hospitalist at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Martinez provides a full spectrum of services for children admitted to the hospital for treatment and observation. He is a native Spanish speaker and is committed to improving and advancing healthcare for all patients in pediatric hospital medicine through research and collaboration.

Dr. Martinez earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He earned his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, where he was valedictorian of his class. Dr. Martinez completed his pediatric residency at the University of California San Diego and Rady Children's Health in San Diego, followed by a pediatric hospital medicine fellowship at Phoenix Children's.

Board certified in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Martinez is also a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine. He was elected to participate as a scholar in the Health Excellence Academic Research in Pediatric Hospital Medicine program with Children's National Hospital. Dr. Martinez is a proud recipient and alumnus of the Gates Millennium Scholars Program, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Dr. Martinez has presented posters at national conferences hosted by the Pediatric Academic Societies, Pediatric Hospital Medicine and the Society of Hospital Medicine, in addition to the Phoenix Children's Research Symposium and the Arizona American Academy of Pediatrics Annual Conference and Exhibition.

Along with spending time with family and friends, Dr. Martinez enjoys traveling, staying physically active and exploring new restaurants and cafes.
