About Joshua A. Sultan, MD
Joshua A. Sultan, MD, is a child and adolescent psychiatrist at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Sultan diagnoses and treats a wide range of mental health conditions including neuropsychiatric disorders, psychotic disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In addition, Dr. Sultan also provides consultation-liaison psychiatry services to medically hospitalized patients.
Dr. Sultan graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Purchase College in Purchase, New York, before earning his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies. He completed his psychiatry residency training at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York, where he served as chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Phoenix Children's in Phoenix.
Board certified in adult psychiatry, as well as adolescent and child psychiatry, Dr. Sultan is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. In addition, Dr. Sultan is involved in clinical research trials to advance the field of pediatric psychiatry.
As a child and adolescent psychiatrist, Dr. Sultan's patient care philosophy is centered on providing compassionate, evidence-based care to promote the mental health and well-being of his young patients and their families. He strives to create a safe and supportive environment where patients feel heard, respected and empowered to actively participate in their treatment. By working closely with multidisciplinary teams, Dr. Sultan aims to deliver comprehensive and individualized care that addresses the unique needs of each patient, fosters resilience and optimizes mental health.
In his free time, Dr. Sultan enjoys hiking, jogging, drawing and playing guitar.
