About Juan M. Acosta, MD
Juan Acosta, MD, FACS, FAAP, is a pediatric surgeon at Phoenix Children's with a special interest in minimally invasive robotic surgery. He is also the surgical director at Phoenix Children's Hospital - Arrowhead Campus.
Dr. Acosta graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of California Irvine, before earning his medical degree from the University of California Davis School of Medicine in Davis, California. He completed his general surgery residency training at Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital and Drew Medical Center, as well as a research fellowship in pediatric surgery at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, in Los Angeles. He trained as a fellow in pediatric surgery at Dallas Children's Hospital in Dallas.
Board certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery and pediatric surgery, Dr. Acosta is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Surgeons. In addition, he is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association and the Arizona Latin-American Medical Association. Dr. Acosta serves as a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix and as an instructor of surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Dr. Acosta has also published research in the Journal of Pediatric Surgery.
