About Keren E. Cedillos, MD
Dr. Keren Cedillos is a Phoenix Children's pediatric emergency medicine physician, who is fluent in both English and Spanish. She's an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and at Creighton University. Dr. Cedillos serves on the Summit Case Review and Clinical Scenario Development committees. She is also actively involved in quality improvement regarding sepsis treatment in the emergency department.
Dr. Cedillos considers herself a transplanted native Phoenician despite having been born in New York. Her family is now rooted in the valley and is a large part of her daily life, making Phoenix home. Having left the valley briefly to train for fellowship, she always knew she would return to work at Phoenix Children's as it draws a diverse and fun staff while providing a state-of-the-art facility at the only level one pediatric trauma center in Arizona.
A graduate of the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Dr. Cedillos completed her residency at Phoenix Children's and the Maricopa Medical Center. She then went on to complete a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
She is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine, as well as in basic life support, pediatric advanced life support and advanced trauma life support. Dr. Cedillos is a member of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Dr. Cedillos is committed to advancing care in underserved and immigrant communities and has been recognized for her service and leadership in this area. Among the honors she's received are the Commitment to Underserved Populations Leadership Award and a fellow teaching award.
Dr. Cedillos actively participates in research, lectures and presentations. Her research topics include Frequency of Cervical Spine Fractures Detected by Computed Tomography in the Pediatric Trauma Patient; Experiences and Attitudes Toward Accessing Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Among Spanish-Speaking Parents; Refinement and Validation of Clinical Decision Rules for Appendicitis in Children; and Increased Flow Utilizing Subcutaneously Enabled Pediatric Rehydration.
When not at work, Dr. Cedillos enjoys crafting, spending time with family and friends, being outdoors and attending trivia nights. She also cheers on her favorite teams, including University of Arizona basketball and football, the Arizona Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs.
