About M. Ross Mangum, MD

Ross Mangum, MD, is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist with Phoenix Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. With clinical expertise in Neuro-Oncology, Dr. Mangum's focus is on caring for kids with cancer of the brain or spinal cord. He also teaches the next generation of physicians as an assistant professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Creighton University School of Medicine, the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine and Barrow Neurological Institute.

Seeing the strength of patients and families dealing with cancer and blood disorders drew Dr. Mangum to his field. He chose Phoenix Children's because it offered an emphasis on quality patient care combined with a focus on innovative research.

Dr. Mangum is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, the American Society of Hematology and the Children's Oncology Group.

After earning his bachelor's degree with honors in neuroscience from Brigham Young University, Dr. Mangum earned a medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed a pediatric residency at Nationwide Children's Hospital and a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Centers, Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Mangum contributes to advancing his field through clinical research. He's published in numerous peer-reviewed professional journals and presents at international and national meetings, symposiums and conferences.

When it comes to patient care, Dr. Mangum believes in shared decision-making with patients and their families. He empowers families to advocate for their children as they deal with the many challenges of a cancer diagnosis.

When he's not working, Dr. Mangum enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He also enjoys watching college football.
