About Matilda O. Ogundare, MD
Matilda O. Ogundare, MD, is a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Phoenix Children's.
Dr. Ogundare earned her bachelor's degree from Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia, and her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina. She completed her residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University - University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center / Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital in Cleveland Ohio.
Dr. Ogundare completed dual fellowships in pediatric infectious diseases at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital and in adult infectious diseases at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in Cleveland. In addition, Dr. Ogundare holds a Master of Public Health with a focus on infectious diseases from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore.
Dr. Ogundare is quadruple board certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases by the American Board of Pediatrics, as well as in internal medicine and adult infectious diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is an active member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society.
Committed to clinical research, Dr. Ogundare has contributed to basic research at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), focusing on various infectious disease pathogens. She also engaged in clinical and population-based research through the Doris Duke International Clinical Research Fellowship (ICRF). Her current research focuses on preventing infectious diseases, particularly human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), in all age groups.
Dr. Ogundare's commitment to medicine and public health is influenced by her experience living in West Africa, where she witnessed significant health disparities and the consequences of limited access to medical care. These pivotal experiences motivated her to pursue a medical career where she could focus on improving local and global health outcomes.
In her free time, Dr. Ogundare enjoys spending quality time with her family, friends and community while appreciating the beauty of nature.
