About Merritt I. Ten Hope, DO
Merritt ten Hope, DO, is a specialist in pediatric hospital medicine at Phoenix Children's. Dr. ten Hope is experienced in the management of medical conditions for children admitted to the hospital.
A Phoenix native, Dr. ten Hope decided to launch her career at Phoenix Children's because of the amazing colleagues she met here during medical school. She shares the organization's commitment to the health and well-being of each child.
Dr. ten Hope graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree from the University of Redlands in Redlands, California, and earned her medical degree from Midwestern University's Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona. She completed her residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric hospital medicine at Phoenix Children's in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. ten Hope is board certified in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics at both the national and state level as well as the Society of Hospital Medicine. Dr. ten Hope's research has been featured in publications including Learning & Behavior and the Journal of Aging and Physical Activity. She has presented at meetings of the Pediatric Academic Societies and the Association of the Pediatric Program Directors.
A passion for science and an interest in working with children led Dr. ten Hope to medical school and a career in pediatrics. She is dedicated to the well-being of her patients and works to treat every child with respect and compassion. Her goal is to look beyond a patient's medical condition and assess each child and their family through an all-encompassing lens that considers where they have been, where they are now and where they could be in the future.
Outside the hospital, Dr. ten Hope enjoys spending time running, walking, hiking and exploring the Phoenix area with her husband and their dogs. Each week she tries to make time to enjoy a good book, attempt a new recipe and visit her parents and sister.
