About Shawn S. Matthews, MD
Shawn Matthews, MD, is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who provides psychiatric care to children who are hospitalized.
After graduating cum laude with a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, Dr. Matthews earned his medical degree from the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine in Reno, Nevada. His medical training included a residency program in pediatrics at Phoenix Children's and Valleywise Medical Center in Phoenix. In addition, he completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix. He also completed his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry in Phoenix at Phoenix Children's and the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
Dr. Matthews is board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is a member of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
In his free time, Dr. Matthews enjoys trying new restaurants, spending time outdoors with his family and watching sports.
