Epilepsy Clinical Conference
This is a weekly patient care and educational conference that has existed for the Barrow Neurological Institute Pediatric Epilepsy Program since 1991. As identified by the National Institute of Medicine, there is a continuing treatment gap for evidence-based specialized care for patients with treatment-resistant epilepsy. This conference recommends advanced treatment (often related to epilepsy surgery) for individual patients as they are evaluated by our Program. The unique challenges for diagnosis and consideration of advanced treatment options for each patient are discussed in light of current evidence and expert opinion. This conference also provides a teaching forum for advanced care for children with complex epilepsy for learners at all levels of training.
