Urology Case Conference
The conference facilitates discussion of interesting, unique, and difficult cases between the pediatric urology faculty to ensure that all patients are receiving consistent, high quality, evidence based care. In addition, the conference will serve to educate the rotating medical students and urology residents as well as our three dedicated urology PAs and one nurse practitioner on the diagnosis and management of both common and rare pediatric urology conditions. Specific practice gaps we have identified involve a.) the ability to recognize and review the differential diagnosis and radiologic imaging for complex urologic diagnoses; b.) the ability to collaborate effectively with nephrology specialists on case discussions to ensure that patients with complex urologic diagnoses are receiving the best multi-disclipinary care; c.) when and who to refer from nephrology to urology and urology to nephrology; and the need to learn alternative management strategies (both medical and surgical) for patients with complexy urologic diagnoses.
