Books and Conferences
Each intern receives a $1,500 allowance to spend on educational materials or conference attendance. Interns are encouraged to attend local CME conferences sponsored by the hospital free of charge.
Maternity and Paternity Leave
Each intern is allowed up to 12 weeks' leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) for maternity, paternity, adoption, or serious illness in a family member. Program directors will work with each intern to make up any time lost so that all licensing requirements may be met in a timely fashion.
Leaves of Absence
All leaves of absence, including medical, family, military, disability, or personal, may be taken in accordance with the applicable Phoenix Children's Leave of Absence Policy, which can be accessed on Phoenix Children's intranet (PolicyIQ) or by requesting copies from Phoenix Children's Academic Affairs Office. The Intern acknowledges that the impact of leave may require an extension of the Intern’s Program and affect specialty board certification requirements. Accordingly, the amount of leave time that will prolong the training time for the Intern shall be determined by the Training Director and the requirements of the applicable Training Committee and/or certifying specialty board.
Library
Each intern has unlimited access to the biomedical library. This includes access via the internet to electronic databases and stored journals.
