The Psychology Doctoral Internship Program at Phoenix Children’s offers pediatric psychology training in therapy and assessment with medical inpatients, outpatients with medical and/or psychological concerns, as well as their families. Consultation to medical teams is also an important aspect of our training program. The program is a member of APPIC and the program is accredited by the APA. The psychology internship program is offered by the Division of Psychology, which trains psychology interns as well as psychology postdoctoral residents/fellows, psychology practicum students along with medical residents, psychiatry trainees, and mental health therapy trainees. The primary goal of the program is to train interns in the profession-wide competencies needed to be a skilled psychologist working with children, adolescents, emerging adults, and families in a medical setting. Additionally, multicultural issues, ethical practice, interpersonal skills, supervision acumen, integrating science and practice, and professional values and identity are addressed during the training year. Interns are required to complete 2,000 hours of training.

How to Apply
Phoenix Children’s participates in the National Matching Service and abides by the APPIC match policies. The National Matching Service Program Code Number is 205212 for the Pediatric Psychology track. This internship site agrees to abide by the APPIC policies.
A completed application must be received by November 1. The program requires the following information:
- Official transcripts of all graduate work.
- Current curriculum vitae.
- Letters of recommendation from at least three professionals who are familiar with the applicant and the applicant’s work, including two letters from clinical placement supervisors.
- A sample of a child/adolescent assessment/intake report. (Please remove all identifying information.)
- Complete online AAPI Application for Psychology Internship.
