What You’ll Find at the Emily Center
You can visit the Emily Center in person at Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Thomas Campus. We’re in the East Building on the first floor. Inside the center, you’ll find areas to read, learn and relax:
Find a quiet, relaxing place to get away for a bit. Our mindfulness room offers virtual reality experiences and massage chairs. You can stop by for a 30-minute massage-chair session to reduce stress. No scheduling available, just walk in basis.
Learn with interactive teaching from our nurses and other health providers. Our technology includes large touchscreen displays and interactive whiteboards that help patients and families learn. Creative programs help simplify complex topics and keep kids engaged.
Use our computer and office equipment to check email, send and receive faxes, and stay updated with work or school. We also have printers available.
Request a notary to certify your signature on important business and legal documents, free of charge. Our notary area is quiet and privately enclosed. Walk-ins are welcome – no appointment needed.
Please note that notary services end 30 minutes before the Emily Center closes for the day.
Visit the Kids’ Cove, a special area for kids to learn about their own health condition or the condition of a sibling, family member or friend. We offer educational books about different health topics – written just for children. We also have iPads, coloring books to keep and other resources.
Free Health Education Services
We give patients, families, providers and the public access to free services and resources, including:
Discover digital resources, available to you 24/7. From the online pediatric health library to the Phoenix Children’s Bright Futures blog and teaching apps – our tools keep you informed and engaged.
Count on us to bring you trusted, family-friendly information in a format that works for you. Our experts choose and update print and digital publications, as well as interactive media. We also offer bilingual education services and materials in English and Spanish. We can help with other languages as needed.
Learn more about conditions as common as tonsillitis or as rare as Rett syndrome. The details you need are here – spanning diagnosis through treatment and day-to-day challenges. Our pediatric nurses and staff can answer questions about your specific concerns.
Get answers to questions and find exactly what you need. Our knowledgeable staff can provide a custom research packet just for you. We can help with almost any condition, treatment or health topic.
Pediatric experts at the Emily Center created Journey Boards to engage patients and families in the healthcare journey. This learning tool helps you and your child understand their condition, how to treat it, what problems to look for at home and how to respond.
Both children and adults love journey boards for their colorful, interactive gameboard style. The fun teaching approach makes it easier to talk about and tailor our care to meet your family’s needs.
Ask us for information about support groups. Some groups meet in person or online. You can connect with other caregivers and families who have first-hand experience dealing with a particular pediatric condition or disease. These groups vary in areas of focus. They offer education, guidance and opportunities to share the emotions and changes that come with caring for a loved one with a challenging condition.
Find more ways to get involved or give back at Phoenix Children’s. Our team can connect you with Patient Family Advisors, which include current and former patients, family and caregivers. They partner with hospital staff, clinicians and leadership to help enhance quality care and the healthcare experience. Learn more about patient and family engagement opportunities, including Patient Family Advisory Councils (PFACs) and Patient/Parent Workgroups (PPWGs).
