Become a Patient Family Advisor

We strive to create a widely representative set of members. Therefore, we cannot accept all applicants. Each group has a range of 8-16 patients and/or family members from a variety of backgrounds and diagnoses. At this time, we’re only considering patient and family members who aren’t employed at Phoenix Children’s for our Patient Family Advisor opportunities.

Patient Family Advisor Responsibilities

Our Patient Family Advisors play an important role in helping Phoenix Children’s provide the best care and patient experience possible for every family. We appreciate all input and time our Patient Family Advisors share with us. We encourage you to review our member responsibilities and the time commitment involved before applying.

The time commitment varies for each group, but most meet virtually every month or quarter. Our hope is that Patient Family Advisors will serve two-year terms.

Patient Family Advisors will:

  • Actively participate in engagement initiatives and attend regularly scheduled meetings (80% participation required).
  • Maintain confidentiality with meeting discussions and topics.
  • Partner with Phoenix Children’s care teams, staff and leadership to improve the quality and safety of care.
  • Promote patient- and family-centered care at Phoenix Children’s through various opportunities.
  • Give feedback on ways to improve the experience at the hospital, clinic or any area of care within the Phoenix Children’s system.
  • Share positive and negative experiences constructively and objectively.
  • Value and respect all opinions others express.
