A series of expansion projects at Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Thomas Campus totals 212,000 square feet and will increase the amount of clinical space, inpatient beds and clinical exam rooms. The campus-wide expansion is part of the health system’s long-range plans to meet the healthcare needs of Arizona’s burgeoning pediatric population.

Phoenix Children’s and Cigna announced the two organizations reached a tentative agreement yesterday as contract discussions continue. While the contract is being finalized, Phoenix Children’s remains an in-network provider for families with Cigna employer-sponsored health coverage.

Phoenix Children’s, one of the fastest-growing pediatric healthcare systems in the country, today announced the appointment of internationally renowned surgeon-scientist Matthew Halanski, MD, as Division Chief of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.

Kathleen van Leeuwen, MD, will serve as associate surgeon-in-chief of Phoenix Children’s Hospital – East Valley, slated to open in 2023. As Phoenix Children’s Division of Nephrology continues to grow to address the needs of children in Arizona and beyond, the health system has named renowned pediatric nephrologist and researcher Katherine Perry, MD, MS, the chief of the division. Dr. Perry comes to Phoenix Children’s from UCLA Health, where she worked as a board-certified pediatric nephrologist since 2006.
