Corrective Jaw Surgery for Children, Teens & Adults

At Phoenix Children’s, our expert surgeons offer orthognathic (jaw) surgery to help children, teens and adults with conditions that affect the growth, position and function of the upper and lower jaws and chin. Our goal is to help your child eat, speak, breathe and smile with comfort and confidence.

Custom Treatments from the Largest Pediatric Craniofacial Program in Arizona

When orthodontic treatment alone can’t correct jaw problems, you or your child may benefit from orthognathic or corrective jaw surgery. Because Phoenix Children’s has the largest pediatric craniofacial program in Arizona, you can expect to receive:

  • Virtual surgical planning that helps your family understand what to expect during surgery
  • Custom implants and surgical guides, designed for each patient’s unique anatomy
  • Continued care into early adulthood
  • More affordable services; We accept most insurance plans

All the Care You Need from a Team of Specialists

Complex jaw conditions often require care from many specialists. At Phoenix Children’s, your jaw surgery team works alongside clinicians from other medical and surgical disciplines. This coordinated effort ensures every patient receives expert care from the providers best suited to treat their individual needs.

A team approach also means your family has access to advanced diagnostic procedures, specialized surgical care and long-term follow-up. All services focus on providing the safest care and the best outcomes possible.

Guidance and Support with Planning, Surgery & Recovery

Most of the time, we don’t complete jaw surgery until the face is done growing. But the planning process for surgery often begins years in advance.

First, you’ll schedule a consultation with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. They can help determine if and when jaw surgery is the best option for you or your child. During the visit, we take time to understand your concerns, imaging, bite, facial balance, airway and treatment goals. Together, we come up with a treatment plan based on your needs.

Our surgeons work closely with your orthodontist and craniofacial team. You’ll meet with your surgeon regularly leading up to your surgery. With advanced technology, we can show you 3D models that help us plan out the procedure. That way, you know what to expect and can see intended surgery results ahead of time.
