Liver Transplant
A liver transplant is a surgical procedure that replaces a diseased liver with a healthy liver from another person.
Phoenix Children’s Liver Transplant Program offers several types of transplant procedures. These techniques help increase the availability of donor organs and ensure the best possible fit for each child.
- Whole organ liver transplant: A whole organ from a deceased donor is implanted into the pediatric patient.
- Reduced-liver transplant: Uses a donor liver that has been reduced surgically to meet the needs of the smaller pediatric transplant patient.
- Split-liver transplant: Uses one donor liver separated into two portions to provide an organ for two recipients, frequently a larger portion of the liver for an adult and the smaller portion for a child.
Our team will guide you through each step of the transplant process so you know what to expect.
