Neonatology
- Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) Program: We offer advanced care for babies with lung, heart and airway abnormalities resulting from premature birth.
- Developmental play group: These instructional classes, led by a developmental specialist, support early psychological and sensory input in the development of infants.
- Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO): Similar to a heart/lung bypass machine, this technology supports an infant's heart and lungs while they heal.
- High-frequency ventilation: This technology delivers oxygen to an infant's lungs.
- Lactation and nutrition support: Our team of lactation consultants and nutritionists support mothers who wish to breastfeed or supply breastmilk to their baby in the NICU. We also have a donor breastmilk program.
- NEST Clinic: Phoenix Children’s care and support for your child doesn’t end when your baby leaves our NICU. Through the Newborn Early Screening Team (NEST), we provide support for your child as they grow and develop.
- Neuro-NICU: The only one of its kind in Arizona, the neuro-NICU provides specialized care for babies with neurological injuries and conditions.
- Nitric oxide: This is a blend of oxygen and nitrogen that is given to a baby through a breathing machine to increase blood flow to lungs.
- Physical, occupational and speech therapy: Specially trained physical, occupational and speech therapists work with infants in our NICU to support their healthy growth and development.
