Research

Our dedication to research in pediatric neurosurgery is crucial for advancing our understanding and treatment of complex neurological conditions in children. Research drives the development of innovative techniques, improves surgical outcomes and enhances overall patient care.

By investigating new technologies and treatment approaches, researchers can address challenges specific to pediatric neurosurgery, leading to safer procedures, faster recoveries and better long-term results. Our ongoing commitment to research ensures that we continually refine our practices, offer the most effective treatments and ultimately improve the quality of life for young patients facing neurological issues.

The neurosurgery program at Phoenix Children’s is an active participant in the Hydrocephalus Clinical Research Network (HCRN), a national leading consortium of centers performing hydrocephalus research in North America. Through the HCRN, we are discovering important ways of managing hydrocephalus and engaging in multicenter clinical trials.

The program is also an active member of the Pediatric Epilepsy Research Consortium (PERC), through the American Epilepsy Society. This keeps the program on the leading edge of pediatric epilepsy surgery research in the country.

Multiple faculty members are actively involved in national spine deformity research. We also have several faculty with membership in the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS).
