Chandler Providers

All professionals at Phoenix Children's Pediatrics maintain the highest levels of accreditation and pursue ongoing education to stay abreast of the latest trends in the medical field. Read on to learn more about our staff's experience and training.

Susan Sohn Chung, MD

General pediatrician Susan Sohn Chung, MD, has always loved working with children. From a young age, she was inspired to become a doctor by observing the love and dedication her father showed his patients in his own cardiology practice. Working with children in her high school and college years as a tutor in inner city schools and a camp counselor for children affected by cancer further strengthened her conviction to become a pediatrician. Dr. Chung now strives to provide excellence in pediatric care with a compassionate, family-centered approach.

Dr. Chung received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University.  She attended medical school and completed her residency at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.

She is grateful to be at Phoenix Children's, where she enjoys working with other providers who share her commitment to the highest standard of care.

“I enjoy building long-term relationships with my patients and their families,” says Dr. Chung. “It’s rewarding to watch patients grow and thrive over the years.”

Outside of work, Dr. Chung enjoys spending time with her family, learning how to cook international dishes, appreciating nature and relaxing with her pet Yorkie, Lucky.

Heeral Patel, MD

Growing up in Arizona, Heeral Patel’s parents were both physicians and important role models for her. From an early age, she was interested in working with children. This inspired her to pursue a career in pediatric medicine.

After earning her medical degree at Saint Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Dr. Patel completed her internship at Phoenix Children’s. She then completed her pediatric residency at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Patel is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is certified in its neonatal resuscitation program. She’s also certified by the American Heart Association in basic life support and pediatric advanced life support.

Today, Dr. Patel enjoys working with families to develop an individualized care plan based on their needs and goals.

When she’s not working, Dr. Patel loves spending time with her husband, family and friends. She enjoys hiking, traveling and trying new restaurants and recipes.

Angela Tin Mee Wong, MD

Pediatrician Angela Tin Mee Wong, MD, was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She credits her uncle — an ear, nose and throat specialist who thoroughly enjoyed his work — with inspiring her to become a doctor.

Dr. Wong received both her undergraduate and medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She completed her residency training at Phoenix Children's, and she has been practicing pediatrics since 1990.

Dr. Wong focuses on helping her patients grow into healthy, happy and caring individuals. She is a strong advocate for her patients and believes a positive attitude helps every situation. She’s passionate about making a difference in their lives.

"Children are genuinely happy. It's so rewarding to watch them grow and become adults," she says.

When she’s not helping patients, Dr. Wong enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. She also enjoys traveling, fine dining and watching cooking shows.

Ashley Lynn Collins, PA-C

Ashley Lynn Collins, PA-C, is an Arizona native. Growing up in a family of educators inspired her to choose a career that allowed her to work with children.

Ashley received her bachelor's degree in physiology from the University of Arizona. She then attended the University of Colorado Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant Program. After earning her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, she moved back to Arizona, where she pursued her passion for pediatrics. Ashley is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Ashley gives patients and families as much time as they need to ask questions and understand their diagnosis and recommended treatment. She's happy to be providing care as part of Phoenix Children's well-known network of providers.

In her free time, Ashley values spending time with her husband and two kids. They love watching University of Arizona basketball and cheering on the Wildcats. She also enjoys hiking, camping, running and baking.
