Inpatient Rehabilitation Program
Our multidisciplinary care team ensures that your child receives highly individualized, personalized and compassionate care. We encourage collaboration among team members, patients and caregivers to address the comprehensive needs of each child allowing them to return to their home, school and community as quickly and as safely as possible.
Meeting Your Child’s Needs
Depending on your child’s specific needs, several different expert providers may be involved in your child’s care, including:

- Neuropsychologists

- Occupational therapists
- Orthotist
- Pediatric physiatrists (physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists)

We also work collaboratively with other medical and surgical specialists as needed to provide coordinated services. These may include animal-assisted therapy with our own therapy dog, art therapy and music therapy, as well as on-site teachers and school.
Family-Centered Facilities and Amenities
At Phoenix Children’s we recognize that families are the primary caregivers and decision-makers for their children. We also understand the profound impact your child’s condition can have on the entire family. Our facilities are designed with family-centered amenities to support comfort and enable full participation in your child’s care. We offer 12 private, ADA-compliant inpatient rooms equipped with features like roll-in showers to enhance convenience. Other family-friendly features include:

- Common eating area for families
- Family laundry machines
- Kitchen and living space for therapy
- Outdoor adaptive playground
- Peace room
- Sleeper sofa in every room for parents to stay overnight
- The Zone (Child Life and Therapeutic Arts) – Including a 3,800-square-foot therapeutic play area
- The Emily Center – A place to find personalized, family-friendly health information, education, resources and support guided by pediatric nurses
Community Re-entry Opportunities
Patients who meet specific clinical guidelines may be eligible to participate in community re-entry outings. These outings are designed to help children apply and practice their skills while learning to navigate their community. Additionally, we offer related training for caregivers to support these transitions.

Going Home
We provide the environment, support and education families need while staying with us. Our team will also ensure that you are fully supported and have the resources required for a smooth transition home.
Our team will work with your family to identify necessary modifications and appropriate equipment, facilitating a successful return home. Together with your child’s care team, you will receive a personalized care plan tailored to evolving needs. We will help guide your child's ongoing care, including follow-up appointments, outpatient therapies and reintegration into school and daily activities.
