Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics

At Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics, we enjoy partnering with you to promote your child’s health and well-being. In addition to the information and services provided by our licensed health care providers, the following are a few educational health and safety resources to assist you.

Patient Resources

Urgent Care vs. Emergency Care
Sometimes, it may be difficult to determine whether your child’s medical condition requires advice from a pediatrician or a visit to an urgent care center or emergency department. Our online and printable care guides are designed to help you make informed decisions about when and where to seek medical care for your child.

Immunizations/Vaccinations
At Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics, our practices follow the immunization guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. These vaccines are proven to protect children from life-threatening illnesses.

Wellness (Well-Child) Exams
Based on industry best practices, our wellness exams adhere to guidelines set forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Visit our Wellness Exams page for a summary of these guidelines.

Fever Medication Dosing
Correct medication dosage is determined by the dose frequency, type of medication (liquid, chewable, pill) and a child’s weight. Children coping with fever may take acetaminophen (Tylenol®) and/or ibuprofen (Advil®/Motrin®), without a prescription, to ease symptoms. Please administer the appropriate dosage for your child.

Emily Center Health Library
Featuring the largest pediatric consumer health library in the Southwest, The Emily Center Health Library offers a variety of information on health conditions, treatments and procedures and other health-related topics.

Phoenix Children’s Health Library

Center for Disease Control and Prevention
The official website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), CDC.gov serves as a reputable online source for credible health information and statistics for a wide range of diseases and conditions, as well as wellness and safety tips to promote healthy living. This website is also a great resource for information when traveling abroad with children.

Consumer Product Safety Commission
Children’s products, including toys and equipment, are often recalled due to manufacturing defects or discovered safety hazards. CPSC is a great resource for staying up-to-date on product recalls.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration
The FDA offers a lot of food safety information online, including food allergy information, food recalls and outbreaks, labeling and nutrition and much more. It’s a great resource for parents!

Online Resources

Phoenix Children's Pediatrics has reviewed and recommends the following websites on various health topics. As content to any one site may change periodically, it remains important to discuss any concerns you have regarding this information with your primary health care physician.

Asthma is a condition that is constantly changing with age, seasons, environments, physical condition and numerous other variables, so it is important to maintain close follow up of your child’s asthma so that treatment can be customized to fit your child’s changing needs. Our goal is to minimize the impact of asthma on your child’s health so that they can lead full and active lives with the least amount of medication and side effects possible. The current recommendation by asthma experts is to have routine evaluation of chronic asthma symptoms at least every 6 months, more frequently if symptoms are not well controlled. In addition, it is important for children with chronic conditions like asthma to get an annual flu vaccine every fall.
