Primary & Complex Care
When your child needs care – whether it’s a routine checkup, help with an illness or ongoing support for a complex condition – you want to know they’re in the right hands. At Phoenix Children’s, we offer care that is designed to meet children where they are, from the newborn stage through the teen years.
Our pediatric experts take the time to listen, answer your questions and guide you toward the right care for your child’s needs. If specialized expertise is needed, we’ll help connect your child to trusted specialists within Phoenix Children’s, so your family feels supported every step of the way.
Services We Provide
Preventive services help your child grow and thrive – physically, emotionally and socially. These visits include regular checkups, immunizations, vision and hearing screenings, and developmental screenings. They’re also an opportunity to track your child’s growth, address concerns early on and provide guidance to support healthy development at every stage.
From common colds and ear infections to sprains and minor injuries, we offer care to help your child feel better. Same-day appointments may be available upon request, and we provide guidance on home care when appropriate. If your child needs follow-up care, we make sure they stay connected to the right services to avoid complications and fully recover.
Primary care for preteens and teens focuses on both their physical and emotional health during this important stage of growth. Our providers support healthy lifestyle choices and help manage common adolescent concerns such as skin changes, sleep patterns and stress. We work closely with Adolescent Medicine when specialized expertise is needed. Common reasons adolescents may visit us include sports physicals and preventive checkups, acne, menstrual health and changes during puberty, anxiety or mood changes.
For children with ongoing or complex medical needs, such as asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, or genetic syndromes, primary care plays a vital role. With so many specialists, therapies and treatments involved, a trusted primary care team helps coordinate every part of your child’s care.
Our team serves as your family’s central point of contact, ensuring care is comprehensive, connected and focused on your child as a whole. This ongoing relationship provides continuity, reduces unnecessary emergency visits and helps families feel supported through every stage of their child’s health journey.
Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, also known as OMT, is a system of evaluation and treatment designed to promote and maintain health by restoring normal function to the body. It is performed by a specially trained doctor who uses their hands to diagnose injury and illness in the body. The doctor then uses gentle pressure applied to specific parts of the body to put bones, muscles and tissues back into place. Many conditions are treated with OMT.
Our team works with you to ensure your child’s medications are safe, effective and easy to manage. We review prescriptions at each visit, check for potential side effects or interactions, and make dosage adjustments when needed. We also provide guidance on how and when to take medications, so you and your child feel confident about their treatment plan.
When your child needs imaging or lab work, convenience matters. Radiology and laboratory services are available on-site at Phoenix Children’s – Thomas Campus, so your child can often receive testing and care in the same visit. This close connection between your care team and diagnostic services means faster communication of results and a smoother overall experience for your family.
If your child needs specialized care, we coordinate directly with trusted pediatric subspecialists within Phoenix Children’s. This ensures your child sees experts who are familiar with their medical history and are part of the same integrated care network. Our team manages the referral process, shares relevant medical records, and stays in touch with the specialists so your child’s care is seamless from start to finish.

Team-Based Care
A collaborative team that works together to provide thoughtful, thorough care supports your child’s health. In some visits, you may meet medical students, residents or other learners who partner closely with our experienced physicians. This team approach allows for multiple perspectives on your child’s care plan and helps ensure nothing is overlooked.
We take the time to listen to your concerns, answer questions and address every aspect of your child’s health. Our focus is not just on treating illness but on building a long-term partnership with your family to support your child’s growth, development and well-being.
