August 23, 2019 - Phoenix Children’s Hospital is proud to announce that three of the hospital’s leaders were selected as Health Care Heroes Awards finalists during Phoenix Business Journal’s award breakfast on August 22. Carmen Neuberger, Phoenix Children’s general counsel and executive vice president, was selected as a finalist and the winner for the Non-physician category. Angus Wilfong, MD, Division Chief of Pediatric Neurology, was selected as a finalist for the Innovator category, and Daniel Velez, MD, Division Chief of the Heart Center at Phoenix Children’s, was selected as a finalist in the Physician category.
August 13, 2019 - Phoenix, Ariz. – Highlighting efforts in patient safety and quality, Phoenix Children’s Hospital received a Five Star Patient Care “Vigi Award” from VigiLanz, a provider of SaaS clinical surveillance solutions. The award recognizes a new quality improvement solution Phoenix Children’s implemented with VigiLanz technology. Phoenix Children’s Infection Control team is now able to monitor patients’ blood draw contamination information in real time.

June 24, 2019 - Again recognized as a Best Children’s Hospital and a top Pediatric Cardiology and Heart Surgery program by U.S. News and World Report, Phoenix Children’s has earned the top rating of three stars from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for the sixth consecutive year.
June 20, 2019 - On the heels of its top “three-star” rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, a repeat “Best Children’s Hospital” designation, and its ranking among the nation’s top Pediatric Heart Centers from U.S. News & World Report, Phoenix Children’s will open a newly expanded Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) in July 2019. With 48 total inpatient beds, the new CVICU doubles the capacity of the previous 24-bed unit. New CVICU rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology like surgical lighting, lifts for mobilizing adult patients and improved monitoring capabilities.
For the Third Time Phoenix Children’s Ranked in All 10 Specialties by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals
June 18, 2019 - Phoenix Children’s Hospital is proud to announce the organization is again ranked by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals in 10 out of 10 specialties. The health system remains Arizona’s only children’s hospital to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report and is one of only 24 children’s hospitals in the United States to make the list in all 10 surveyed specialties for 2019-20.
Phoenix Children’s donates more than 1 million servings of cereal to St. Mary’s for the second year running
June 10, 2019 - For the second time in a row, Phoenix Children’s annual cereal drive for St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance yielded more than 1 million servings of food for Arizona’s vulnerable children. Two of the largest non-profit organizations in the state, Phoenix Children’s and St. Mary’s provide meals to children through the summer. For the seventh year, Phoenix Children’s cereal drive is the largest donation event of the year for St. Mary’s and stocks the shelves during the season when children lose access to school-provided meals. Hospital staff gathered at St. Mary’s Food Bank Warehouse on Monday morning to celebrate as the organization delivered its contribution to fighting childhood hunger.
Phoenix Children’s Named to Becker’s Healthcare “150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare – 2019” List for Sixth Straight Year
