When your pregnancy takes an unexpected turn, every moment can feel uncertain. At Phoenix Children’s, you don’t have to face it alone. The Center for Fetal and Neonatal Care at Phoenix Children’s brings together expert medical teams and compassionate care to help you plan, prepare and feel supported at every step.

Our nationally ranked specialists offer seamless, family-centered care. This includes medical and surgical treatments and specialty services across Phoenix Children’s. We come together with empathy, understanding and a deep commitment to your family. We’re just as excited about your baby as you are, and we’ll guide you through the journey – before birth and for as long as you need us.

Planning Your Baby’s Care

Maybe your pregnancy isn’t going as planned. You might deliver early, or you may already know your baby will need extra care. Whatever you’re facing, we’re here to help – even before your baby arrives.

Our team partners with your obstetrician (OB), maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) provider and other specialists to create a plan that’s right for your baby – and right for you. Plus, with partnerships with health systems around the state, you can find coordinated support close to home.

You’ll meet one-on-one with our experts to talk through your baby’s arrival, ask questions and prepare for what’s ahead. Based on your needs, we’ll create a personalized plan that may include visits with fetal cardiology, advanced imaging or other specialists. Throughout the process, we’ll honor your values,  delivery plan and the choices that matter most to you.

Care That’s Coordinated and Centered Around You

We understand that this journey is likely not what you expected, and it’s hard. But you are not alone. Each family works with a dedicated nurse who helps coordinate every aspect of your baby’s care. They’ll be your single point of contact for everything from initial testing and diagnosis to comprehensive treatment and ongoing support during your child’s first years.

We want to make your experience as seamless and stress-free as possible.

Your care coordinator will:

  • Be there to answer questions, address concerns and provide emotional support
  • Collaborate with you on a care plan that’s right for your baby and family
  • Communicate on your behalf with all medical specialists involved, including your OB, MFM and neonatal providers
  • Connect you with educational resources for your baby’s condition that can help during and after treatment
  • Provide an easy-to-follow roadmap that outlines all information, steps and options, so you can make informed care decisions
  • Schedule any necessary appointments, including testing, fetal imaging, consults with providers, counseling services and postnatal follow-up

Why Choose Phoenix Children's

Whether you’re working with our center before your baby is born or when your newborn arrives in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), you’ll have access to one of the most experienced teams in the region, with the tools and support that matter most.

Here’s why families choose Phoenix Children’s:

Highly Specialized Medical Care

Phoenix Children’s has one of the best multidisciplinary teams of pediatric providers across specialties. With 22 diagnosis-specific clinics, we can effectively treat a wide range of fetal and infant medical conditions.

Expert Care, Close to You

Our center has a strong regional and statewide presence. You’ll find our staff in MFM clinics, delivery centers and NICUs throughout the Valley. That means you can get the same expert care, no matter where you live in the state.

Advanced Technologies

From advanced fetal imaging to high-tech surgical suites and our Level IV NICU, we offer the latest technologies to give your baby the best possible treatment. Our specialists can perform many interventions using less invasive techniques guided by ultrasound.

Proven Track Record

Every year, more than 13,000 families entrust us with their care. We work hard to improve outcomes for each one. It’s this level of dedication that earned us national rankings in several pediatric specialties, many of which involve our Center for Fetal and Neonatal Care.

Seamless Continuum of Care

Our team works closely with your chosen OB and MFM providers. We’ll also help your delivery site track your progress, so they’re prepared to care for your baby right after birth. This way, everyone stays focused on the health and wellness of you and your baby.

Multidisciplinary Conferences

For complex diagnoses, we offer multidisciplinary conferences (MDCs) – a virtual meeting where you and your providers can talk directly with multiple Phoenix Children’s specialists at once. These collaborative sessions save time, reduce stress and ensure everyone stays aligned on your baby’s care. Afterward, you’ll receive a clear, comprehensive care plan, designed just for your family – without the stress of multiple appointments.

Additional Support Services

If you have additional concerns, your dedicated care coordinator will connect you with the right hospital and community resources. These include:
