Young athletes in the greater Phoenix area show remarkable dedication, passion and grit – and our athletic trainers see it every day. Our team of experts manages common to complex sports injuries, including sprains and strains, heat illness, concussions and spinal cord injuries. We offer a wealth of services including conditioning, rehabilitation and preventive care like bracing and taping. Local high schools, tournaments and teams count on us for exceptional on-site coverage and training room management with physician oversight.

Our care for young athletes extends from children who are just learning how to dribble and kick to college athletes. Because Phoenix Children’s is a pediatric health system, we understand how young athletes develop and grow, whether we’re helping them train for an upcoming season or rehabilitating an injury. We know what it takes to return to play safely.

How Can Athletic Trainers Help Young Athletes?

Athletic trainers are partners in your child’s growth, development and performance as an athlete. If an injury occurs, we lean on our years of experience to provide quick, expert care and management. We serve as a key contact between parents, coaches and physicians to help ensure young athletes have safe and positive experiences playing the sports they love.

All Phoenix Children’s athletic trainers are nationally board-certified in athletic training and have a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) at the Healthcare Provider level. They’re also SafeSport certified and have Fingerprint Clearance Cards, which serve as background checks.

We’d Love to Partner With You

In addition to longstanding agreements, our program offers per-diem athletic training coverage with physician oversight for high schools, clubs, tournaments and events. We offer coverage for all youth sports, including volleyball, soccer, flag football, gymnastics, ice skating, basketball, tennis and lacrosse.

Beyond game coverage, our team is also involved in community outreach. This includes educational opportunities for parents, coaches, teams and physicians, to ensure our young athletes are playing safe and smart.

Injury and Nutrition Education and Counseling

We have several educational videos to help young athletes, families and coaches prevent and learn about common sports injuries:
