Neil Raj Singhal, MD, is a board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist. He serves as vice chief of Pain Medicine and research director of Pain Management at Phoenix Children's. He is also a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Dr. Singhal enjoys the interdisciplinary approach to pain management offered at Phoenix Children's. He is able to assist with pediatric pain management across many disciplines and can perform interventions for pain management in the clinic and operating room.

After earning his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson, Dr. Singhal completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas -- where he was appointed chief resident. He went on to complete a fellowship (serving as chief fellow) that focused on pediatric regional and cardiac anesthesiology at Children's Hospital of Colorado in Denver.

Dr. Singhal is committed to furthering the field of pediatric anesthesiology and pain management. He has conducted extensive research and has shared his findings in a multitude of publications. Dr. Singhal also teaches medical students and has received the Teacher of the Year Award from both the University of Arizona and the Mayo Clinic.

Patients of Dr. Singhal know him as "Dr. Raj." The story behind this name is related to what first sparked his interest in becoming a doctor -- a beloved sixth-grade teacher. Mr. Baker jokingly called his student "Dr. Raj," which made him seriously consider medicine. Twelve years after receiving that nickname, he earned his MD.

When not at work, Dr. Singhal enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. He stays active with golf and biking, and he loves traveling with his family.
